What qualifies
A bad lead costs the same as a booked job.
The average home service search lead runs about $91. Roofing runs $228. When the number is dead, you paid full price for nothing, and Thumbtack's own policy says you can have it back. These are the six things that qualify:
You called four times and it never rang through. Thumbtack's policy covers disconnected and invalid numbers.
You do HVAC, the lead wanted carpet cleaning. Job type mismatches are refundable.
Two hours from your service area is not your lead. Location mismatches are refundable.
Same customer, same job, two charges. Duplicates are refundable.
They needed it done during a window you had marked unavailable, or the deadline had already passed when the lead arrived.
Fake requests and unreachable customers with a record of your attempts fall under Thumbtack's reason-not-listed category.
One catch worth knowing: Thumbtack accepts requests for roughly 30 days after the charge. Every week you wait, refunds you already earned roll off the table.
